Community College of Philadelphia

The Community College of Philadelphia is a public community college in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It grants associate degrees, academic certificates, and proficiency certificates. The college offers traditional, evening, weekend and online courses, including online degree programs.[1]

Students at the college can pursue a bachelor's degree upon graduation and some programs prepare students to enter the workforce. Dual admissions partnerships and transfer agreements[2] with four-year schools make it easy for students to further their education. Student support services[3] include free tutoring, counseling, transfer assistance, the Center for Male Engagement,[4] a Career Services Center,[5] and a Veteran's Resource Center.[6] Adult Basic Education[7] classes can provide Philadelphia residents with skills.

History

The college opened on September 23, 1965, in the Snellenberg's Building at 34 South 11th Street. The Mint Building on the main campus, which opened for classes in 1973, served as the Third Philadelphia Mint from 1901 to 1969.
