History
Establishment
After the discontinuation of fund by the University Grants Committee (UGC) for most of the associate degree Programmes of City University of Hong Kong in 2004, the Community College of City University was established and providing various associate degree Programmes.[3]
Alliance With University of Wollongong
On 21 November 2014, The University of Wollongong (UOW) and CityU announced their partnership in accordance with the press release of both of the institutions.[4][5] There were several concerns from the staff and students of UOWCHK / CCCU. For example, the employment of the staff and the accreditation of the current associate degree programmes after the transferral from UOWCHK / CCCU to UOW. It was said that within the first 5 years of the transitional period, all the employment terms and conditions will be remained the same, all the current programmes will be continued in both the Main Campus and Telford Annex and students can continue to enjoy the facilities provided by CityU.[6]
Missing Campus
As part of the deal in the formation of the alliance with the University of Wollongong, CCCU has agreed to vacate the main campus of City University in five years time. Due to poor management, it has unable to secure an idea campus. It will tried to operate from the Telford Campus but the most likely case is that it will not be able to attract enough students to continue with its operations in the near future.
Campuses
There are 2 campuses of UOWCHK / CCCU including the Main Campus and the Telford Annex. Before the opening of Academic 2, most of the programmes took place in Academic 1. Other programmes (about 1,600 students) take place in the Telford Annex.[7]
