Colorbound

Colorbound is a fairy chess term. It describes pieces that can only ever visit squares of one color on a checkerboard. In orthodox chess, the bishop is the only colorbound piece. Some colorbound fairy pieces are the ferz, camel, and kirin.

In this diagram, the white bishop can only move to white squares; therefore it is colorbound. The white knight changes the color of square it is on with every move; therefore it is not colorbound.
