CoServ Electric

CoServ Electric is a not-for-profit rural electric utility cooperative headquartered in Corinth, Texas. CoServ was organized in 1937 as the Denton County Electric Cooperative, and took its current DBA name (a shortened version of "cooperative services") in 1998.

Currently, CoServ Electric is the second largest cooperative in the state of Texas, serves more than 221,000 meters[1] across six counties, making them the 9th largest cooperative in the nation, including Denton, Collin, Tarrant, Wise, Cooke and Grayson. CoServ Electric's affiliate, CoServ Gas, provides natural gas service to more than 113,000 meters[2] in the same general service areas. CoServ is a member of Brazos Electric Power Cooperative, a generation and transmission electric cooperative.

During the late 1990s, CoServ also engaged in other businesses, such as home security and telephone service, but after a reorganization of assets in 2002, the company returned to its roots of providing electric and gas services only.

In January of 2020, CoServ will be launching their new online account platform called SmartHub. This new platform will allow the cooperative to provide a better Member and Customer experience. SmartHub is a web and mobile app that will allow Members and Customers to take control of all aspects of their utility account. With this upgrade Members and Customers can expect to receive a new account number in December so that they may register for SmartHub in January.[3]
