Chhireshwarnath

Chhireshwarnath (Nepali: छिरेश्वरनाथ) is a municipality in Dhanusa District of Province No. 2 of Nepal. The new municipality was established on 18 May 2014 by merging the existing Village Development Committees Ramdaiya, Kumhraul, Sakhuwa Mahendranagar, Hariharpur, Gopalpur,Baninya and Digambarpur.[1][2]

Mahendranagar is a developed city of Chhireswarnath Municipality. The population of Mahendranagar is more than 10209. Mahendranagar acts as a bridge between Dhalkebar and Janakpur. It has the largest cattle market in Nepal. It is assumed that 65% of cattle, buffalo and goats in the Kathmandu valley are brought from here. It has very good health facilities for residents and neighboring people. It had one of the largest paper factories in Nepal, named Everest Paper Mill. Mostly local people are employed here.

Dhudmati is one of the largest lakes of Dhanusha District and Chhireshwarnath is one of the most popular temples of the god Shiva. Sakhuwabazar is a famous market of Chhireswarnath Municipality; it is the heart of Chhireswarnath. Its annual income is more than 1.25 crore. The municipality and most of the people of Chhireshwornath depend on the market.

Entertainment

Stage shows, concerts and plays are occasionally organized by local clubs and organizations. Formerly, there were two movie theatres operated in the city, Radha Talkies and Lavkush Chalachitra Mandir, but due to the rise of technology and home entertainment facilities, they have closed.[3] Lavkush Chalachitra Mandir may have subsequently reopened.

Geography and climate

Sakhuwa, Mahendranagar

Chhireswarnath is located in the Terai, the forested and marshy terrain at the base of the Himalaya mountain range. The major rivers surrounding it are Aurahi, Jalad. Chhireswarnath Municipality is famous for its temples (Chhireswarnath Temple).The city has derived its name from the temple chhireswarnath.

One can see all the six seasons in Chhireswarnath. Basant Ritu (Spring – February/March), Grisma Ritu (Summer – April/May/June), Barsha Ritu (Rainy – July/August), Sharad Ritu (Autumn - September/October), Hemanta Ritu (Autumn-winter - November/December), Shishir Ritu (Winter - December/January).

The best time to visit Chhireswarnath is from September to March as the weather is pleasant and several festivals fall during this period.

There are many festivals which are celebrated in Chhireswarnath municipality like Chaat, Bhai tika, Dipawali, Bijaya Dashami, Eid, Holi, Raksha Bandhan etc.

Accepting the fact that education is a backbone of development, numerous private schools have opened. Most of them are residential English and Nepali medium schools. Chhireswar Janta Ma Bi is one of the oldest schools in the region. Various prominent scholars, administrators and political dignitaries have finished their schooling from Chhireswar Janta Ma Bi. Presently, it also runs the +2 program with the affiliation from NEB Nepal.

Apart from that, various private residential schools are in operation. The names of the schools are Gangotri Boarding, Rubys International, DRSK Academy, Morning Glory School, Saraswati Boarding,Gyan Mandir Secondary English Boarding School,Pragati Shishu Sadan.

There are couples of industrial establishment located in Chhireswarnath Municipality.City consists of 2 Liquor Factory ,largest paper factory of nepal named as Everest Paper Mill and wire factory as well as plyboard factory is situated in the city.In the outerskirt of the city lots of rice mill are in operation.Fishing business is one of the major and prominent sector of commerce in the city.
