Channel Court Shopping Centre

Channel Court is a sub regional shopping centre located on the Channel Highway, Kingston, Tasmania. For many years the shopping centre was considered very small but adequate to the needs of the local population. However, since being purchased by the Behrakis Group in June 2004 the centre has undergone a complete transformation to cope with the influx of mainlanders and their traffic. Tasmania's largest Big W was opened at the shopping centre on April 5, 2006, and it is planned that by 2009 Channel Court will be one of the largest shopping centres in Tasmania.[1]

Extensive redevelopment took place through 2011 and 2012, and is still in progress, but initial plans for a new full-sized cinema complex were abandoned in favor of installation of older women's clothing stores.[2][3]
