Caryl Thomas

Caryl Thomas (born 19 February 1986), is a Welsh rugby union player who plays loosehead prop for Bristol Ladies and the Wales women's national rugby union team. She won her first international cap against Italy in 2006, and her 50th cap against France in 2018.

Playing career

Caryl Thomas was born on 19 February 1986 in Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire, Wales. As of 2018, her official Wales Rugby Union biography states that she is 1.70 metres (5.6 ft) tall, and weighs 86 kilograms (13.5 st).[1]

Thomas made her debut for the Wales women's national rugby union team in 2006 against Italy as a loosehead prop.[1][2] She won three caps for her country over the course of the following year, but then was not selected again until being called up to the squad for the 2010 Women's Rugby World Cup. Since then, she has gone on to play regularly for the team, winning her 50th cap against France in 2018.[1] As well as in 2010, she has played in a further two Women's Rugby World Cup, in both 2014 and 2017.[3]

At club level, she previously played for Bath Ladies,[2] where she won more than 100 caps for the team.[3] Thomas now plays for Bristol Ladies in the Women's Premiership.[2]

Outside of her playing career, she is an Inclusion Manager for Bath Rugby, having previously worked as a community rugby coach at Neath RFC.[4] She also coaches the University of Bath Women's Rugby Union team.[2]
