Botsa Satyanarayana

Botcha Satyanarayana (9 July 1958) also known as Sathi Babu is an Indian politician from Andhra Pradesh, India. He belonged to the Indian National Congress until 2015 and he joined the YSR Congress On 7 June 2015.[2] He was sworn in as the Cabinet minister for municipal administration and urban development in Y.S.Jagana Mohan Reddy cabinet on 8 June 2019.[3]

Personal life

He was born in Vizianagaram. He has studied Bachelor of Arts at Maharajah's College. He was married to Botsa Jhansi Lakshmi who was elected as a Lok Sabha representative from Bobbili constituency in 2006.[4] He has a brother, Botcha Appala Narasaiah, who is also a politician.[5]

Political career

Botcha Satyanarayana served as President, APCC . He was a Minister for Transport, Marketing, Panchyat Raj and Housing in the government of Andhra Pradesh,[6] and has served previously as Panchayati raj minister,[7] and as Minister for Industries in the Andhra Pradesh government. He presented himself as a contender to succeed Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy as chief minister of Andhra Pradesh after the latter's death in a 2009 helicopter accident.[8]

In 2015, Satyanarayana announced he would leave the INC and join the YSR Congress and he finally joined YSR Congress on 7 June of the same year with entire family and supporters.
