Besim Šerbečić

Besim Šerbečić (Bosnian pronunciation: [běsim ʃěrbetʃitɕ]; born 1 May 1998) is a Bosnian professional footballer who plays as a centre back for Bosnian Premier League club Sarajevo, on loan from Rosenborg, and the Bosnia and Herzegovina U21 national team.

Šerbečić started his professional career at Zvijezda Gradačac, before joining Radnik Bijeljina in 2016. Two years later, he was transferred to Rosenborg, who loaned him to Sarajevo in 2019.

Club career

Early career

Šerbečić came through youth setup of his hometown club Bratstvo Gračanica, before joining Zvijezda Gradačac in 2014.[2] He made his professional debut against Olimpic on 4 April 2015 at the age of 16.[3] Two weeks later, he scored his first professional goal against Zrinjski Mostar.[4]

In July 2016, Šerbečić joined Radnik Bijeljina on a two-year contract.[5]

Rosenborg

On 23 January 2018, Šerbečić was transferred to Norwegian outfit Rosenborg for an undisclosed fee.[6] He made his competitive debut for the team in a convincing cup win on 19 April.[7] Šerbečić won his first trophy with the club on 26 April, by beating Lillestrøm in Mesterfinalen final.[8] A month later, he made his league debut, in an away victory over Haugesund.[9] He scored his first goal for Rosenborg in a UEFA Europa League qualifier against Cork City on 16 August.[10]

In July 2019, Šerbečić was sent on a season-long loan to Sarajevo.[11] In June 2020, his loan was extended for an additional season.[12]

International career

Šerbečić represented Bosnia and Herzegovina on various youth levels.[13]

In January 2018, he received his first senior call-up, for friendly games against United States and Mexico.[14]
