Bahraini passport
The Bahraini passport (Arabic: جواز السفر البحريني) is issued to Bahraini citizens for international travel. They are issued by the General Directorate of Nationality, Passports & Residence, one of the earliest bodies of its kind in the region, which first issued passports in 1929.[2]

In 1996, the Bahraini government was criticised by journalist Robert Fisk for refusing to renew the passports of some Bahraini nationals, thus imposing an effective exile on these individuals.[3]
Visa requirements
In June 2019, Bahraini citizens had visa-free or visa on arrival access to 89 countries and territories, up from 78 in February 2018, ranking the Bahraini passport 50th in the world according to the Visa Restrictions Index.[4]
