History

The single was first released in April 2001 to radio airplay in the U.S. and was commercially released elsewhere in September 2001. In the U.S. the song was titled "Baby, Come Over (This Is Our Night)"; internationally, the song's title was kept the same as the original, "Baby Come on Over". It was rumored the song's title was changed due to confusion with Christina Aguilera's single "Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You)".

In the song, Mumba sings a portion of Kool & the Gang's hit single "Ladies' Night". The song is not listed in the credits, but its writers are listed.

The music video (directed by Joseph Kahn) features Mumba and several others dancing in different scenes. The first is Samantha singing in a light/sunny background. Another has Samantha and others dancing several giant steps above water. Much of the video also has various others dancing in a multi-coloured room, being viewed in the shape of a telescope. The other final scene features Mumba with a microphone and stand in a blue room with white holes splodged all over the walls.
