History

The arrondissement of La Flèche was created in 1800.[3] In February 2006 it absorbed the five cantons of La Chartre-sur-le-Loir, Château-du-Loir, Le Grand-Lucé, Loué and La Suze-sur-Sarthe from the arrondissement of Le Mans.[3][4]

As a result of the reorganisation of the cantons of France which came into effect in 2015, the borders of the cantons are no longer related to the borders of the arrondissements. The cantons of the arrondissement of La Flèche were, as of January 2015:[5]

  3. Château-du-Loir
  4. La Flèche
