Arpita Mukherjee

Arpita Mukherjee (born 27 March) is an Indian film playback singer. Mukherjee won the television singing reality show in Zee TV's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa: Golden Voice Hunt 2003[1]. Mukherjee was the Top finalist on the show Fame Gurukul on Sony Entertainment Television (India).

Mukherjee has appeared as a judge on the grand jury panel of the current season (2019) of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs on Zee TV[2], as well as the previous season of 2017 of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs on Zee TV[3]. An Air Force officer’s daughter, and an Economics (Hons) Graduate and Sangeet Shiromani from Delhi University, she has a strong musical base with her classical and semi classical training.

Personal life

Mukherjee aspired to become a playback singer from a young age. At the age of six, she started learning music, mainly Hindi film songs, Bhajans, Ghazals and Thumris, Mukherjee's mother Smt Jayshree Mukherji is her first guru. Celine Dion is her favourite singer.[4]

Career

Mukherjee has done playback for movies like Mubarakan (T-Series)[5] , Wah Taj (Zee Music), Ek Tha Hero (Zee Music Company). Mukherjee is nominated for 18th Transmedia Gujarati Screen & Stage Awards in 2018 for her playback in Gujarati film Reva.[6] [7]

Mukherjee sang and also featured in the music video of the duet song More Piya with singer Shaan for YashRajFilms and Yfilms webseries Loveshots, which was composed by the trio Gourov-Roshin-Shaan. Mukherjee has also rendered a song for Filmmaker/Director Vikram Bhatt's recently concluded webseries "Tantra". Singer Sukhwinder Singh composed the music for Mukherjee's debut music video Ye chand released by crescendo[8]. Mukherjee sang and featured in music video Palkon Ke Peeche from the album Yaariyan... Friends 4ever - EP on Universal / Crescendo[9].

Mukherjee has worked as a playback singer for several popular serials such as Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi (Sony TV), Balika Vadhu (Colors TV), Tere Sheher Mein (Star Plus), Palampur Express (Sony TV), Ramleela Ajay Devgn ke Saath (Life OK), and Udann Sapnon Ki (Colors TV).[10] [11][12][13]

Mukherjee's voice has also featured in TV commercials. Mukherjee was also seen judging on the Grand Jury Panel of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs 2017 on Zee TV[3]. Mukherjee has become a judge on the grand Jury Panel of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs 2019 on Zee TV[2].
