Antonio Ríos

Antonio Ríos Martínez (born October 24, 1988) is a Mexican professional footballer. He currently plays as a defensive midfielder for Toluca, wearing jersey #15. He made his debut January 18, 2009, against Atlante, a game which resulted in a tie (3–3).

Atlético Mexiquense

Ríos started to play for Atlético Mexiquense's youth academy in 2007. He featured in a total of 24 games and scored 2 goals with Atlético Mexiquense, before joining Toluca's senior squad. In 2009 Jose Manuel de la Torre brought Antonio Rios to the senior squad in Clausura 2009.

Clausura 2009 Debut

Antonio Rios made his debut with Toluca against Atlante which was the first game of the season for Toluca FC. He only played 2 games the entire season; both games he played, he was used as a substitute. Toluca was 2nd place in the season of the Mexican League. Toluca lost in the quarter-finals to Indios, losing the first game 1-0 and tying the second leg 0-0(1-0) global.

CONCACAF Champions League 2009-10

Antonio Rios was one of the many young players that played in the CONCACAF Champions League. Rios played a total of 9 games in the CONCACAF and scoring 1 time against Columbus Crew. Toluca and Rios made it to the Semi-final against Pachuca which both teams tied the first game 1-1. Later, Toluca would eventually lose the second leg against Pachuca 1-0(2-1).

Bicentenario 2010

He scored his first goal for Club Toluca against Estudiantes in which Hector Raul Mancilla assisted him with a through pass a match that Club Toluca won 5–0 on Bicentenario 2010. He continue his great form against Querétaro, Atlante, Pachuca, and Puebla. On May 2, 2010, he played his first Liguilla against Arch-rivals Club America which resulted in 2–2 draw. The following week he played again against Club America in which they won 2-0 then Toluca made it to the Semi-Finals. Antonio Rios also played again against Pachuca. On May 15, 2010, he scored against Pachuca FC in the semifinal of the second leg in a game which resulted 1-0(3-2)Global for Toluca FC. He will be playing in the final against Santos on May 20, 2010, which is the first leg and the second leg on May 23, 2010. On May 20, 2010, he played the whole entire 90 minutes of the first leg of the final which ended 2-2. On May 23, 2010, he started the final off the second leg he played the regular time and extra time of the final of a total of 120 min. Toluca won on a penalty shoot-out which ended 4-3 penalties.

International

Ríos got his first call up by interim coach Efraín Flores for friendly matches on September 4 and 7, 2010 against Ecuador and Colombia, respectively. He was called once again for the friendly match against Venezuela, where he was a starter and played up to half time.
