Athletic career

Born in Essex to parents of British and Nigerian origin, Andrew started his running career at Harlow Athletics Club. While attending St Mary's University College he made rapid progress from a young athlete with potential, to a successful senior Olympian with national titles and international medals.

The indoor circuit has been a happy hunting ground for Andrew over the years. Sitting second on the British Indoor All-Time list, he has also shown race craft when medals are up for grabs. In 2012 and 2014 he picked up World Indoor medals in Istanbul and Sopot respectively.

Most impressively he competed in the 'race of the Games' in London 2012. A race in which the World Record was broken, every athlete ran the fastest time for that finishing position ever and he ran his fourth 800m personal best time of the season. Andrew’s time of 1 minute 43.77 seconds would have won the gold in all but two previous Olympic Games. The summer outdoor season of 2013 saw a 5th-place finish in the Moscow World Championships.

Andrew cannot be accused of having a lack of belief and determination. A number of injuries throughout his career have hampered training and threatened championships, yet when he has raced he has performed. He is the fourth fastest Briton of all time.
