Andrew Jones (artist)

Andrew "Android" Jones is an American digital and concept artist, focused on fantasy art.[1] Jones has described his style as "electro-mineralism"[2] with a tendency of pop-shamanism. He is based in Lyons, Colorado.[2]

Biography

He graduated with a degree in computer animation from Ringling College of Art and Design in 2000.[3][4] He started his career with an internship at George Lucas at Industrial Light and Magic,[3] then worked as a concept artist for the Japanese gaming company Nintendo. He became creative director for the Los Angeles-based entertainment development company Massive Black Inc., of which he is a co-founder alongside Coro Kaufman and Jason Manley.[3][5]

In 2007, his art was featured on the cover of the annual Spectrum magazine – a selection of the best fantasy art. He has worked with fashion designer Tiffa Novoa.

As of April 2007, he has started to perform digital live painting at concerts.[6] His artwork has been featured on album covers of several electronic, psybient and rock music artists such as Papa Roach, Bluetech, Beats Antique, Sporeganic, Phutureprimitive, and Tipper. With Obscura Digital, Jones has created digital visual art projections from the Sydney Opera House in Australia,[2][7] the Empire State Building in New York City[2] and for the Ghats in Varanasi in India.
