Amrin Amin

Amrin Amin (Jawi: امرين أمين) is a Singaporean politician. A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he made his electoral debut in 2015. Since 1 October 2015, he has been Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs.[1] He has also been a Member of Parliament (MP) for Sembawang GRC since 11 September 2015. He is Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Health.

Education

Amrin Amin was educated at Dunman Secondary School and Tampines Junior College before reading law at the National University of Singapore, LLB (Honours) and Columbia University in New York, LLM (Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar).[2]

Career

He was a solicitor at Watson, Farley & Williams Asia Practice LLP, and also is a member of National Council on Problem Gambling (Singapore) as well as the governing board of Nanyang Polytechnic.[3] He became a corporate lawyer and partner at Joseph Tan Jude Benny LLP in 2015[4][5][6][7][8]

Amrin became a prominent grassroots activist in Sembawang GRC soon after the General Elections of 2011,[9] and in 2015, Amrin was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Sembawang GRC, replacing outgoing PAP MP Ellen Lee.[10] He was appointed Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs subsequently.[11] In the 2015 Cabinet reshuffling, he was appointed as the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Health.[12]
