Amatsu Shrine

Amatsu Shrine (天津神社, Amatsu jinja) is the Japanese Shinto shrine in Itoigawa, Niigata.[1] It is considered to be one of the two top tourist spots in Tohoku Prefecture due to the renowned Edo-era shrine and its impressive entertainment. Shinto is believed to be the direct descendent of Shintoism, a religion created by the god Amaterasu and practiced in Japan during the Tokugawa Era, from the 10th to the 16th centuries. Shinto tradition states that Amaterasu saved Japan from the great flood of Tokyo Bay, but has become a very strong and revered deity in Japan.
