As large sections of the route are yet to be electrified, a Siliguri based WDP 4 locomotive is the traditional power for this train and powers it for its entire journey. At times a Bardhaman based WDM 3A or Lucknow based WDM 2 locomotive have also hauled the train for its entire journey.
