Albania Davis Cup team

The Albania Davis Cup team represents Albania in Davis Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Albanian Tennis Federation.

Albania currently compete in the Europe Zone Group IV.[1] They started Davis Cup competition only in 2010.

2012

Albania continued to go winless in Davis Cup ties, losing all three rubbers to Bulgaria, Georgia, and Macedonia in Group III action, in early May in Sofia. No Albanian player won a set, let alone a match.

The 2012 squad players had the following win-loss record for the year:

  • Flavio Dece, 0-3 in singles and 0-2 in doubles
  • Rei Pelushi, 0-1 in singles and 0-3 in doubles
  • Genajd Shpheja, 0-1 in singles and 0-1 in doubles
  • Arber Sulstarova, 0-1 in singles

2011

In Skopje in May, Albania lost to Turkey and Norway in Group III round robin play, both times without winning more than two games in a set. They fared far better in the 9th and 10th place play-off tie versus San Marino, with Flavio Dece winning a set in the opening rubber followed by Ferat Istrefi winning the country's first ever rubber. They lost the deciding doubles match however.

The 2011 squad consisted of the following players and their win–loss records for the year:

  • Flavio Dece, 0–3 in singles and 0-2 in doubles
  • Ferat Istrefi, 1–0 in singles and 0-3 in doubles
  • Ivo Spathari, 0–2 in singles and 0-1 in doubles

2010

Outdoors on hard courts in Marousi, Greece in May, Albania lost each of its five-round robin ties, without winning a match, in Group 3 B play. Ferat Istrefi won the country's first ever set in Davis Cup, versus Armenia's Ashot Gevorgyana.
