Alan C. Newell

Alan C. Newell (born 5 November 1941 in Dublin[1]) is an Irish/American mathematician and Regents Professor at the University of Arizona. He was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1976[2] and in 2004 the John von Neumann Lecture for the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.[3] He was a Senior Scientist Humboldt Fellow in 1988-1989 and was elected a Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics in 2009.[4]
