Akyem Abuakwa

Akyem Abuakwa describes a powerful Kingdom in the Eastern Region of Ghana that has been in existence since the thirteenth century and is home to the Akyem people. It was brought together in its current location under the rule of Ofori Panin, who ruled until about 1730.[1] In the 19th-century it fought wars with the Asante Empire and succeeded in vanquishing their ruler Osei Kofi Tutu I.[2]
