Club career

Rus started his career as junior with local team Olimpia Satu Mare, before moving in 2015 to neighbouring Hungary where he represented Fehérgyarmat, Balmazújváros and Puskás Akadémia. He did not play any matches for the latter club, as he was loaned back to his native country with Sepsi Sfântu Gheorghe.[1]

On 25 June 2019, Rus agreed to a contract with Hungarian club MOL Vidi—soon renamed MOL Fehérvár.[2]

International career

Rus acquired Hungarian citizenship during his early spells in the country, making him eligible for the Hungary national team. In spite of that, he stated in an interview for the Romanian Football Federation that he is "100% Romanian" and desires to represent Romania.[3]

He was selected in Romania's squad for the 2019 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, recording one appearance as his team was eliminated in the semi-finals by Germany.[4] In August that year, Rus received his first call-up to the senior team,[5][6] and started in an eventual 1–0 victory over Malta on 8 September.
