Acting (law)
In law, when someone is said to be acting in a position it can mean that the position has not yet been formally created, the person is only occupying the position temporarily to ensure continuity, or the person does not have a mandate.
It can also mean that the 'acting' person is temporarily filling and executing the role of a position in case the individual meant to execute the role is incompetent or incapacitated.
Examples of acting positions include:

- Acting governor
- Acting president
- Acting prime minister
- Acting president of the United States
- Acting President of Israel
- Acting President of Pakistan
- Acting President of Poland
