Acobamba District, Acobamba

The Acobamba District is one of the eight districts in the Acobamba Province in Peru. It was created by Law No. 9718 on January 15, 1943.[1] Its capital is Acobamba.[2]

Ethnic groups

The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (62.07%) learnt to speak in childhood, 37.64% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[3]
