ABC Southern Queensland

ABC Southern Queensland is an ABC Local Radio station based in Toowoomba broadcasting to the Darling Downs region of Queensland, Australia. This includes the towns of Warwick, Dalby, Kingaroy and Goondiwindi.

History

The station began broadcasting as 4QS in 1939. As well as a number of low power FM transmitters, the station broadcasts through the following main FM and AM transmitters:

  • 4QS 747 AM
  • 4QS/T 104.9 FM

Local programs

Weekdays

  • Rural Report - 6.15 AM to 6.30 AM (shared program with ABC Capricornia).
  • Breakfast with David Iliffe – 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM.
  • Mornings with Belinda Sanders – 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Saturday

  • Saturday Breakfast with Dennis O’Hara – 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM

When local programs are not broadcast the station relays statewide and national content from either ABC Capricornia or 612 ABC Brisbane.

Additionally, the station is the originating location of the Statewide Country Hour program between 12:00pm – 1:00pm weekdays.

For a number of years, a regional drive program was broadcast across Queensland between 4pm and 6pm from the ABC Southern Queensland studios, but it ceased production at the end of 2013.
