In December 2018, it was decided that Åre and Östersund, Sweden would host the 2021 World Winter Games [1]

However, the event is not going to be held in Sweden. It is going to be cancelled or moved. The Swedish organising committee has financial problems, it can't find enough sponsors as they lack interest in intellectual disabilities, and the Swedish government has the policy not to financial support or guarantee sports events.[2]
