2011 European Pool Championships

The 2011 European Pool Championships was a professional pool championship that took place at the Steel Palace, in Brandenburg, Germany. The event played between March 23, and April 3, 2011 was a part of the European Pool Championships; and saw events for men, women and wheelchair players across 4 pool disciplines: Straight Pool, 8-Ball, 9-Ball, and 10-Ball.[1]

Tournament Summary

The event was played between March 23, and April 3, 2011, with the event finals being run sequentially, with the straight pool finals first (24-25 March), 8-ball (26-28 March), 9-ball (28-31 March) and finally 10-ball (30 March - 2 April).[2]

Dominic Jentsch of Germany won the 8-Ball event, defeating compatriot Ralf Souquet in the final, 8-1.[3] Nick van den Berg won the 9-Ball event, defeating Mario He in the final 11-3.[4]

10-Ball was only being held for the second time in the championships, with Stephen Cohen of France defeated Poland's Radosław Babica 8-6 in the 10-Ball men's final.[5] The final of the straight pool was won by Tomasz Kapłan, who defeated Italian Fabio Petroni by a score of 125-17 in the final.[6]

Jasmin Ouschan was the event's most successful player, winning three events, the 9-Ball, 10-Ball, and straight pool. She lost her only match of the championships to Marika Poikkijoki in the quarterfinals of the 8-Ball 5-6.[7] Jouni Tähti won two of the wheelchair events, losing his only match in the final of the wheelchair 9-ball to Henrick Larsson.[8]
