- Joe Christopher was drafted from the Pirates by the New York Mets.[2]
- Al Jackson was drafted from the Pirates by the New York Mets.[3]
November 21, 1961: Coot Veal was purchased by the Pirates from the Washington Senators.[4]
December 4, 1961: Ramón Hernández was purchased from the Pirates by the Los Angeles Angels.[5]
