The tornado killed 5 people, injured 10 others, and rendered 25 families homeless.

The Moniteur Acadian published an extra edition to cover the full details. But a short report was issued from St. John, N.B. dated Aug. 12, and it appears in several newspapers, including The Woodville Advocate of Aug. 21, 1879.
