Zimbabwe (abbreviated ZIM) had competed part in eleven Commonwealth Games from the second games in 1934 London: first as Southern Rhodesia, then as part of Rhodesia and Nyasaland, then as Zimbabwe until 2002 Manchester. Rhodesia with a white government under UDI was suspended from 1966 to 1978.
Zimbabwe withdrew from the Commonwealth in December 2003, and did not compete in 2006 Melbourne, 2010 Delhi, 2014 Glasgow and 2018 Gold Coast but Zimbabwe might return at 2022 Birmingham 20 years after their last appearance.
