In 1996, Zia formed band Shironamhin along with Jewel and Bulbul.[2] They used to sing at gossiping mode at TSC, Dhaka University, in their BUET campus and wherever they got a chance.[7] With their band, Zia went to the 2nd Benson & Hedges Star Search competition and won critical acclaim. Encouraged by the plaudits they released their first album Jahajee in 2004. The group's second album Ichchhe Ghuri released in 2006[8] and third, fourth and fifth album released in 2009, 2010 and 2013 respectively.[4]

In 2014, Zia with his band Shironamhin attended the Sri Lanka's most famous musical festival titled Galle Music Festival where they enthralled the audiences with their music.[9][10][11][12]
