Yves Romestan is the Executive Vice-President of European communications agency ComCorp overseeing its teams, development and international growth. He is a strategic advisor to large companies in various sectors such as construction and real estate, energy, automobile industry, investment and finance, as well as retail. He is also a Professor of Economics at the European Institute of Business and an advisor for a small number of promising start-ups.

He has worked for global corporate companies such as Total, Lafarge, Banques Populaires Group, CEA, Bouygues, Brandt and Walgreens Boots Alliance.

Architect of the communications strategy that contributed to the building of Walgreens Boots Alliance the international communications strategist has been a key figure in corporate restructures, acquisition programmes, brand strategies and geographical expansions in various industries over the last 30 years.[1][2][3][4]

Education

Romestan graduated from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris, France. He holds a degree in public law.[5]

Career

Early career

Romestan entered the emerging corporate communications industry in 1979, looking for a job that combined his interests in law, journalism, economics and his willingness to serve.

He started in the Paris press office for French oil giant Total, dealing with challenges that included refining problems in Europe, political instability in the Middle East and Africa and competition issues.

Career

After 11 years, he moved to head up PR for the Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique, France's atomic energy commission. In 1992, he became Head of External Communications for Banques Populaires Group. Romestan then became Director of External Communications at Lafarge, where he developed international PR and financial comms to boost the brand awareness of the building materials company across the world.

In December 2017, Romestan became Executive Vice-President at ComCorp,[6] an independent European communications agency, specialising in the development of the image, trust equity and reputation of businesses and brands. Headquartered in Paris, ComCorp is an active member of three complementary international networks of independent communications agencies.

Total Group

Romestan began his career at Total Group, where he performed a range of roles from 1979 to 1990.[9] Total is the fifth largest publicly traded integrated international oil and gas company and a world-class chemicals manufacturer. It operates in more than 130 countries and has 96,387 employees.

Banques Populaires Group

In 1992, Romestan was hired by this large bank to oversee the whole spectrum of its external communications including advertising, PR and financial communications. He played a role in the design of the new brand strategy and in the launch of innovative campaigns that enabled the bank to standout and increase its market share.

Lafarge Group

Romestan joined Lafarge Group in 1993 as Group External Relations Director. Lafarge Group is the world leader in building materials with a presence in 80 countries. Romestan played a role in the successful takeover of Redland PLC in 1997. In 1998, Romestan left Lafarge Group to progress his career at Brandt Group.

Brandt Group

Romestan joined Brandt Group as the Group Communications Director. Brandt Group is a European leading manufacturer of white goods.[10]

Bouygues Construction

Romestan was hired in 2000 by Bouygues Construction, an important subsidiary of the Bouygues group, to develop and promote the company image as Communications Director.[11] Bouygues Construction is a world leader in the building, civil works and electrical contracting and maintenance sectors.

Alliance UniChem

In 2003, Romestan became Director of Group Communications of Alliance UniChem Plc[12] Romestan was hired to create a European-wide Public Relations team from scratch. He designed the brand strategy of the company. Some 1,100 pharmacies were part of a rebranding programme for the Alliance Pharmacy brand. Romestan was responsible for overseeing this project.[13]

Alliance Boots

When Boots Group PLC and Alliance UniChem Plc merged in July 2006 to become Alliance Boots, Romestan was responsible for creating the newly formed company's identity.[14] In 2006 and 2007, he created the marketing function within the Alliance Healthcare Division. Romestan was promoted to Group Communications Director in 2007.[15] He oversaw public relations, financial communications, multimedia, internal communications and the communications of all the Alliance Boots and Alliance Healthcare businesses and countries.

Walgreens Boots Alliance

Walgreens Boots Alliance was created through the combination of Walgreens and Alliance Boots in December 2014. Romestan played a significant role in the implementation of the internal and external communications strategy for the merger between the two companies. As Senior Vice-President, Communications and International Affairs of Walgreens Boots Alliance, he was responsible for the implementation of the company's communications and international affairs strategy. This included internal and external communications, M&A, crisis and reputational management, corporate and employer brand. Romestan led divisional, business and brand communications for the Retail Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Wholesale Divisions, plus the Global Brands function. [16][17]

ComCorp

Founded in 2013 by Charles de La Rochefoucauld, ComCorp[6] is an independent European communications agency, specialised in the development of the image and reputation of businesses and brands. As Executive Vice-President, Romestan oversees the entire scope of its communications, media and opinion offerings, alongside developing the agency's international presence.

Personal

Married to wife Angelina (GP), and has three children – Vanina, Laetitia and Alexandre.

Professor of Economics at the European Institute of Business, Romestan has dual nationality (French/British). His interests include vintage cars and Bordeaux wines.

Awards
