Yoshihiro Senda

Yoshihiro Senda (千田 嘉博, Senda Yoshihiro, born July 19, 1963)[1][2] is a Japanese castle archeologist. He is a professor at Nara University and was president of the university from April 2014 to August 2016. His work is concerned with excavating and maintaining castles from the Middle Ages and early modern times in various regions of Japan, and with performing comparative studies with castles from around the world including Europe and Mongolia. He received the Hamada Seiryō prize in 2015. He was a historical consultant for the Taiga drama Sanada Maru in 2016. He often appears on television. His books include Nobunaga's Castles, published by Iwanami Shoten.

Biography

He was born in Aichi Prefecture. He entered Nara University in 1982. He graduated this university in 1986. He also became a curator. In 1990, he was an assistant at National Museum of Japanese History. He studied in a German archeology research institute, the U.K. University of York as Ministry of Education overseas researcher in 1995. By a study of the 2000 "formation of the castle of Shokuhojidai (Oda-Toyotomi period) line" Osaka University doctor (literature). In 2001, he was assistant professor in National Museum of Japanese History. In 2005, he was Associate professor in Nara University. In 2009, he became Professor. He served a guest professor of Germany University of Tübingen and the Germany Frankfurt University for from August, 2012 to August, 2013. He was President of Nara University from 2014 through 2016. The 28th Hamada Seiryo Prize is won by "developing the archeological study of the castle in our country newly, and having contributed to the establishment and development" from Kishiwada-shi and Asahi Shimbun in 2015. In 2016, in series on NHK TV "Sanada-maru" he acted as a reconstruction Sanada-maru castle historical investigation such as the Sanada-maru whom he studied historical evidence of. He is now professor at existing Nara University.
