Yoann Offredo (born 12 November 1986) is a French road bicycle racer for UCI ProTeam Wanty–Groupe Gobert.[1] He won a stage in the 2009 Tour de Picardie, and in 2017 he completed the Tour de France, where he got the Combativity Award on Stage 2.[2] He is known as a classics rider, and has finished 14th in both the Tour of Flanders & Paris-Roubaix as his best result. Offredo is a user of the popular fitness site Strava, where he posts regular rides from his training & races.[3]

He is also a dedicated beers lover, and primarily posts photos of belgian beer on his Instagram & Strava profile.

Career

Offredo turned professional with Francaise des Jeux in 2008, after riding as a stagiaire with the team in 2007.

Française des Jeux (2008-2016)

At the 2010 Milan-San Remo, Offredo finished 16th after attacking solo on the Poggio. He also finished 3rd in the Pro Tour Classic "GP Ouest France - Plouay". He started in the Vuelta a Espana which was his first Grand Tour start. He abandoned the race on stage 10. Yoann also finished 7th in the Paris-Tours.[4]

2011

In the first belgian classics race of the season, Offredo finished 4th at the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.[5] One month later, he started at the Milan-San Remo, and finished 7th which is his best ever result in a monument classic.[6] A week later he started the Gent-Wevelgem and just missed out of top 10, with an 11th place finish. Offredo crashed in Wevelgem, and suffered a heel injury, thus not starting the Tour of Flanders.[7]

2012

After missing three whereabouts, Offredo received a 1 year ban at the start of the season.[8]

2013

Offredo returned to professional cycling in 2013, after a 1 year ban, and finished 5th in the National Road Race Championships.

Wanty-Groupe Gobert (2017-present)

2017

In the 2017 season, Yoann Offredo turned out for the belgian Pro-Continental Squad, Wanty-Groupe Gobert. He achieved his best ever results at the classics campaign, with a 14th place in both the Tour of Flanders & Paris-Roubaix. He also rode the Tour de France for the first time, and attacked on several stages. On Stage 2, Offredo got in the breakaway, and won the Combativity Award, after a late attack from the breakaway with Taylor Phinney. He was also in the breakaway on Stage 10 with fellow frenchman, Elie Gesbert.

2018

Yoann finished 20th at the Grand Prix Cycliste la Marseillaise. He suffered an ankle sprain throughout the classics season, and therefore abandoned the Tour of Flanders. His team, Wanty-Groupe Gobert did not get a wildcard for the following classic, Paris-Roubaix. Offredo started his 2nd Tour de France on July 7th, and was also in the breakaway securing the Combativity Award as he did in on the first mass start stage in 2017. Offredo was also in the breakaway on Stage 7 but as the stage was 231 km long, and was the only man in the breakaway he quickly returned back to the peloton.
