Yewande Adekoya (born 20 January 1984), is a Nigerian actress, filmmaker, director and producer.[1][2]

Early life and education

She was born in Lagos State but hails from Ososa-Ijebu in Ogun State southwestern Nigeria.[3] She attended Bright star nursery and primary school, before proceeding for her secondary education at Bright Star Comprehensive High School. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) degree in Mass communications from Babcock University. Yewande Adekoya is happily married with children.[4]

Career

Yewande Adekoya began acting in 2002 with Alphabash Music And Theatre Group. She scripted and produced her first content in 2006 titled “Life Secret”. She has produced, directed and featured in several Nigerian films such as Omo Elemosho, a 2012 film that featured Bimbo Oshin, Muyiwa Ademola and Yomi fashlanso. The film also received 5 nominations at the 10th Africa Movie Academy Awards.[5] She was nominated for most promising Actress in a Yoruba film in 2012, Best supporting actress in a yoruba film 2013 and Best actress in a leading role in 2014 at the Best of Nollywood Awards and on July 2014 and December 2014, she bagged the Best New Actress award and Most promising actress award "City People Entertainment Awards" and "Yoruba Movie Academy Awards" respectively.,[6] In 2016, she also went ahead to bag the Best Actress in a leading role Award at the ACIA in Atlanta . In 2017, her movie, Iyawo Adedigba, got the Award for The best movie of the year at the 2017 "City People Entertainment Awards".
