Yang Liyu (simplified Chinese: 杨立瑜; traditional Chinese: 楊立瑜; pinyin: Yáng Lìyú; born 13 February 1997) is a Chinese footballer currently who plays for Guangzhou Evergrande in the Chinese Super League.

Club career

Yang Liyu joined Portuguese Second Division side Gondomar from Wuhan Zall in 2015. On 8 May 2016, he made his senior debut in a 1–0 loss against Anadia where he was sent off in 56th minute.[1] He was officially promoted to the first team squad in the summer of 2016. He played six league matches for the club in the 2016–17 league season.

Yang was loaned to Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda on 26 January 2017.[2] He made his debut for the club on 4 March 2017 in a 2–0 away loss against Shandong Luneng Taishan.[3] On 9 August 2017, he scored his first senior goal in a 3–1 away defeat against Yanbian Funde.[4] He scored another goal of the season on 27 September 2017 in a 3–1 home win over Guizhou Hengfeng Zhicheng.[5] Yang scored two goals in 26 league appearances in the 2017 season. He refused to extend his contract at the end of 2017.[6]

On 24 December 2017, Yang transferred to fellow Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao.[7] He made his debut for the club on 14 February 2018 in a 1–1 home draw against Buriram United in the first group stage match of the 2018 AFC Champions League, coming on as a substitute for Alan Carvalho in the 80th minute.[8] On 11 August 2018, he scored his first goal for the club in a 3–2 away defeat against Changchun Yatai.[9] On 2 September 2018, Yang scored his second goal of the season by heading the winner in the 90th minute against Shanghai Shenhua, which gave Guangzhou a 2–1 win.[10]

International career

Yang was named in the China national team's squad for the first time in November 2017 for the 2017 EAFF E-1 Football Championship by Marcello Lippi.[11] He made his international debut on 9 December 2017 in a 2–2 draw against South Korea.[12] He played all three matches in the 2017 EAFF E-1 Football Championship.[13]
