Xinzhan is the town of Jiaohe, Jilin, China. It is located at the north of Jiaohe city, away from Jiaohe 17 km.[1] The east and north are Shulan, Qianjin, the south is Lafa, the west is Tiangang.[1] The area of Xinzhan is 601 km²,[1] the subdistrict has 2 communities and 31 villages.[1] The government sent organs is located at the town-city,[2] and the area of town-city is 3.7 km².[3]

History

The original of the name was coming from the station of Lafa (拉法驛站). When the Qing dynasty, the Lafa station moved here, called it the new station of Lafa, so calling here "Xinzhan" (lit. new station).[2]

1933 set up Xinzhan Bao, 1938 set up Xinzhan street, October 1954 set up Xinzhan town.[4] Among the movement of people's commune, it became commune, after that, March 1979, it let out the town, and July 1983, the commune became township, so that time was has two same name district.[4] Until March 1985, the township merged into the town. The Longfeng township was merged into Xinzhan at 2001.[2]

The Lafa-Xinzhan battle was fight at here, in the June 8 and June 10, the KMT army was fighting with CCP, the battle was ended here, and KMT was failed.[5]

Geography

The terrain is Xinzhan basin, the east is Mount Dahuangdingzi (大荒頂子山), the northwest is Mount Laoye (老爺嶺), the south is Mout Lafa (拉法山), the highest mountain is Mount Xitu (西土山) with the altitude of 1189.3 m.[1] The forest is rich here, it has three forest farms: Pingchuan (平川), Longfeng (龍鳳), Laoyeling (老爺嶺).[6] It has many mountain, because it is Changbai mountain range.[3]

The east of area has Longfeng river, the west has Laoyeling river, and the north has Minzhu river (民主河), they flow together at the south, becoming the Lafa river,[1] at last they flow into the Songhua Lake.

About the traffic, there has Xinzhan railway station with Labin railway.[6] And it has 204 provincial highway crossing here.[2]

Residents

Xinzhan has 44,569 people (2012), among them has 20,311 people is citizens.[1]
