Xavier College, Santiago de Compostela, situated in the center of the historic pilgrimage town of northwestern Spain, was founded by the Society of Jesus in 1961. Classes covered are infant (age three) through secondary (ESO).

Program

Xavier College is Catholic and coeducational, and endeavors to reach out to the most disadvantaged. College facilities are divided into two buildings, one covering the last six year of education, from fifth primary through ESO, and the other for infants and the first four years of primary.

The College strives to impart integral education for constructive participation in society, and employs Ignatian Pedagogy.[1]

On the 50th anniversary of the school there was talk of the strict discipline of the school, with some supporting it and others mentioning new times which demand new methods.[2] There has been declining enrollment at the lower levels of the school which has caused considerable coverage in the press with little light shed on the current situation.[3][4]
