World Snooker Championship 2002 (Or, "WSC" 2002) is a sport simulation video game, released for the PlayStation 2 on 28 September 2001. The game was the second entry of the World Snooker Championship video games series, which would run until 2011. The game featured player likenesses from the real world, including Stephen Hendry, Mark Williams and Ronnie O'Sullivan.[2]
The game was developed by Blade Interactive and published by Codemasters and the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association. It was followed by World Championship Snooker 2003 in 2003.[3]
Overview
Following on from the original game World Championship Snooker, graphical and textural implementations have been improved.[4] WSC2002 offers the ability to set a "handicap" when playing against an AI opponent, or a friend, whilst also offering the ability to change the AI's difficulty level.[4] There are aiming and potting "aids", to help the player, with a virtual line on screen displaying the line that the cueball would take[4]

The game was well received by critics. Video game aggregator website GameRankings scored the game at 73%, scoring the game higher than the original release in the series WSC. The PlayStation 2 Max magazine scored the game very highly, with a score of 89%,[6] whereas Final Level magazine scored the game at only 3 out of 5.[7] The game play was frustrating for some, with the AI being considered to difficult on most settings.[4]
