Word of the year (Ukraine)

In Ukraine, the Word of the Year (Ukrainian: Слово року) poll is carried out since 2013 by Myslovo dictionary.

  • In 2013 the choice was «Євромайдан» — «Euromaidan».[1] The word also took the second place in the Russian Word of the year poll.[2]
  • In 2014 the choice was— «кіборги» — "Cyborgs" (a moniker for Ukrainian military defending Donetsk Airport).[3]
  • In 2015 the choice was «блокада» — Blockade (because of blockade of Russian-annexed Crimea)
  • In 2016 the choice was «корупція» — Corruption, emphasizing the damaging effect it has on Ukrainian state.
