"Woman Like Me" is a song by British girl group Little Mix featuring American rapper Nicki Minaj, released on 12 October 2018 by Syco Music.[1] The song was announced in a video posted to social media on 30 September,[1] with the group posting a video several days earlier of them singing the song a cappella.[2] Earlier in September, they had posted a clip of them recording a track in the studio.[2]

The group's fifth album will be released in November 2018. "Woman Like Me" will serve as the lead single from the album,[1] which has been teased by the group on social media since May 2018.[3]

Composition

"Woman Like Me" is a reggae fusion and R&B song,[4][5] with an urban groove.[3] British singer Jess Glynne stated she wrote the song for her album Always In Between (2018) with Ed Sheeran and Steve Mac, but that it "didn't fit where the album was going", so she gave the song to Little Mix to record.[6] Band member Leigh-Anne Pinnock said after the song was given to Little Mix by Sheeran the band "went into the studio and tweaked little bits, and made it a little more personal to us." Artwork

The artwork for the song was released along with the video, and has been noted for featuring the group looking distinctly more "natural" than their usual look. The group also all wear black polo necks.[3]

Music video

The group reportedly filmed the music video for the track in late September.[8] Pinnock has said about the video "it’s personally one of my favourite videos that we’ve shot. The thing I love about it is that most of the video is us all as a group. We’ve hardly got any solos. We’ve never done that before." [9]
