William Hanson, FRSA is a British etiquette expert and social commentator who teaches around the world and comments on matters relating to etiquette and civility for international media. He is a tutor for the international protocol and hospitality consultancy firm 'The English Manner'.^[5]

Hanson was born in Bristol. He was educated at Clifton College and studied English Language, Literacy and Communication at the University of Manchester (B.A. 2011)^[6]

In November 2008, Hanson filmed for the Australian version of Ladette to Lady^[7] However, he quit filming two days early due to concerns about the production's integrity. In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, Hanson stated that the programme is 'detrimental to promoting good manners and etiquette'.^[8]

In April 2011, he appeared on Russell Howard's Good News and consulted Howard on behaviour he deemed appropriate to the royal family. In January 2012, Hanson helped set the Guinness World Record for the Longest Curtsey Relay in 5 Minutes.^[9] From 2012 to 2014, William appeared in the hit cookery series Let's Do Lunch with Gino & Mel joining the third series for a weekly slot.

In January 2014 he published his first book, 'The Bluffer's Guide to Etiquette'.^[10]

In 2015 he joined the MailOnline as a columnist, writing about social class, etiquette and the British royal family^[11].

In August 2017 he performed at the 70th Edinburgh Festival Fringe with 'The Etiquette Show: Much Ado About Everything'^[12] with one reviewer calling Hanson's performance "gently camp and very debonair"^[13].

Hanson works with The Ritz Hotel, London offering expert etiquette programmes for guests looking to learn more about British etiquette.^[14]

In March of 2018 Hanson, along with Jordan North, released a new podcast entitled Help, I Sexted my Boss, where he "helps you navigate the daily struggles of modern life". ^[15]

He regularly appears on BBC Radio 2's Steve Wright in the Afternoon programme talking about different topics of etiquette and answering listeners' dilemmas.^[16]
