William Bree

William Bree, DD ( 19 November 1822 – 29 January 1917) was Archdeacon of Coventry[1] from 1887[2] until 1908.[3]

The son of The Rev William Thomas Bree, MA, Rector of Allesley[4] he was educated at Bridgnorth Endowed School[5] and Merton College, Oxford.[6] He was ordained in 1848, and was curate at Polebrook until 1863, when he succeeded his father at Allesley.[7] He married firstly, in 1853, Mary Duke;[8] and, secondly, Sophy Adèle Biggs.[9] His great nephew was patron of the benefice until 2010.[10]
