He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm bowler, either medium-fast or leg-breaks and googlies. He was born in South Bermondsey and died in Stockwell, London. His brother Tom Abel and father, the Surrey batsman Bobby Abel, were also first-class cricketers.[1][2][3]
