Wiadomości (News) is the main news program on TVP1. The main edition is broadcast at 19:30 / 7:30PM every day. This program was premiered on 18 November 1989 led to Poland's restoration of democracy. It replaced Dziennik Telewizyjny (Television Journal) which was aired during the communist era. This is one of the most watched news programs in Poland. In 2010, "Wiadomości" watched by an average of 4.3 million Poles.[1]

Since 14 September 2016, the acting editor-in-chief of "Wiadomości" is Jarosław Olechowski.

Since the first telecast a letter W composed of two V letters serves as the program logo.

History

"The News" ("Wiadomości") replaced the "TV Journal" ("Dziennik Telewizyjny"), a program that is a symbol of communist propaganda in the Polish People's Republic (PRL propaganda). Transformation of the TV Journal (Dziennik Telewizyjny) in 1989 with the systemic transformation in Poland. The first edition of Wiadomości 18 November 1989 edited by Jacek Snopkiewicz was hosted by Wojciech Reszczyński. The day before, the Official Television, the creators of Wiadomości, was broadcast, allowing 24 hours for fresh studies. The first issue is given a white meaning to emphasize that it will appear "from scratch". Wojciech Reszczyński greeted us with the following words: "November 18, Saturday, Messages, Good evening, I hope that this program will gain the current position for the day, news at a young age, but always true, we count on help and cooperation"[2].
