Westerdale (Scottish Gaelic: An Dail Shuas) is a scattered crofting village, which lies on the River Thurso, located 5 miles directly south of Halkirk, Caithness, Scottish Highlands and is in the Scottish council area of Highland.[1]
The 14th Century Dirlot Castle is located 3 miles south of the village, and was the stronghold of the Sutherlands,[2] and the Cheynes, Gunns, Mackays throughout its history.[3]
River Thurso flows past the village.
