We Are The Grand is a Chilean band and indie rock musical quartet. The group was formed in 2009 by Sebastián Gallardo (vocalist, guitar), Fernando Lamas (guitar), Juan Aguirre (bass) and Matías Peralta (drums) in Santiago, Chile.
History
The band was originally called "The Grand", but changed it after learning of a Norwegian band with the same name.[1]
The group's music style is heavily influenced by indie rock of the 90s, and sounds similar to groups such as The Libertines, Franz Ferdinand, and Kasabian. They succeeded thanks to singles such as "Save Me", "Faint", "Ecstasy", "I Am" and "Do You Remember the First Time?" which were received with positive criticism of the media and record labels.
Their first studio album released in 2012 was titled Until the Morning, where songs like "Ecstasy", "Redemption" and "Save the Bullets" caught the attention of new Chilean and foreign fans. Subsequently, they released their two EP's in 2009 and 2010 titled: The Grand and Chasing Lights.
The second studio album, Volver, was released on March 8, 2016. It was initially published online where it could be downloaded free for 24 hours. A month later, We Are The Grand would present its new album in the Nescafé Theater of the Arts, playing songs like "Volver", "Soy", "Dos", among others of its old album.
They are currently touring throughout Chile, and soon abroad in countries such as Colombia, Mexico and Peru. They will also perform for the first time at the Frontera Festival in Santiago de Chile.
