Wayne Carini (born October 13, 1951) is a master car restorer and an American TV personality best known for his love of cars.[1][2] He was involved in Chasing Classic Cars TV series which helped him gain worldwide recognition.[3] He has also appeared in numerous magazines.

Personal life

Wayne Carini was born in Portland, Connecticut as the son of Robert (Bob) Carini and Rosemary Carini. Bob Carini owned a collision repair and auto restoration business in Glastonbury, Connecticut.[4] Since the early childhood, his father was a main inspiration for Wayne's interest in vintage cars. Weekends were often spent traveling to car shows and displaying some of the vehicles they had previously restored.

At the age of 9, he had his first drive in 1960 Rosso Chiaro 250 SWB Ferrari. As a teenager, he began making plans to pursue a college degree in architecture, later he went on to college to become a teacher, but eventually his father presented an offer he couldn't refuse - half of the family business as a gift.[4]

Professional career

Carini initially started his career from his father's shop while still in grade school,[4] working together on such classics as Duesenbergs, Lincolns, Packards and Ford Model As.

Alongside his father Robert Carini and daughter Lindsay Cushing, they have been working in recent years as grand marshals at Klingberg Vintage Motorcar Festival, conducted in New Britain, Connecticut.[5][6] He has been part of numerous charitable programs and organizations like Autism Speaks. There is a short introductory book about Wayne, named We Survived The Crash.[7]

He was involved in the TV show My Classic Car as himself and also in Overhaulin', a TV series documentary.[8] At present, Carini is the owner of three car dealers in Portland:[4]

  • F40 Motorsports which deals with the vintage cars
  • Carini Carozzeria
  • Continental Auto Ltd.

Chasing Classic Cars

Carini's lifelong chasing of vintage cars was noticed by Jim Astrausky, the chief of Essex Television Group Inc. and hence he approached Carini for a television show. The show aired on the Discovery channel.
