Washington College Shorewomen soccer

Washington College Women's Soccer represent Washington College in the Centennial Conference. Washington College is located on the Eastern Shore in Chestertown, Maryland.

History

The women's club soccer team transitioned to a varsity team in 1998. Eleanor Shriver was named Head Coach of the original team as well as Head Coach of the Women's Lacrosse Team. Shriver remained Head Coach until 2002 leaving the Shorewomen with a record of 25 wins, 61 losses and 21 ties. After Shriver's departure Suzie Friedrich joined Washington College once again as a duel coach of both women's soccer and women's lacrosse teams. Coach Friedrich remained with the Shorewomen from the fall of 2003 to the fall of 2007. She left Washington College for Cornell University to be a Women's Lacrosse assistant coach. While under Friedrich's expertise the Shorewomen were 14-65-6. In the summer of 2008 Washington College named Julika Blankenship Head Coach of the women's team. Blakenship is a graduate of Centennial Conference rival Gettysburg College . While at Gettysburg Blankenship played lacrosse finishing her career as their all-time leader in both points (309) as well as assists (160). Coach Blankenship graduated with a BA in Spanish and she will be completing her National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Regional Advanced Coaching Certification in August 2008. In the summer of 2009 Amanda Lebo was named assistant coach. A 2009 graduate of Wake Forest, Lebo was a key player for the Demon Deacons. As a four-year starter Lebo scored 9 goals while tallying 12 assists in 75 career games.[1] Lebo graduated with a degree in both Psychology and Sociology. Leanne Hollinger was a women's soccer and women's lacrosse assistant coach at Washington College during the summer of 2010. Hollinger was a standout soccer and lacrosse goalkeeper at fellow Centennial Conference school McDaniel College. As a junior, she received All-Centennial Conference honorable mention recognition in lacrosse. Hollinger graduated from McDaniel College with a B.A. in Exercise Science and a minor in Sports Coaching in May 2010. Unfortunately the 2010 season was not the best season for the team as they finished last place in the conference, with Johns Hopkins in the first place seat. They look forward to gaining new freshman and improving their field skills for next season.
